I would LOVE to see the Cat (the biggest threat to NZ wildlife) be trained to do things like this!
A Cat can only be trained to crap in the right spot and to make funny (human-acceptable) videos for YouTube.
While wild (feral) Ferrets are bad (as with any other feral version of a domestic pet like the Cat) I still question the decisions that DOC have made to concentrate on Domesticated Ferrets (which are "housebound" - unlike free-roaming cats who come home with Tui in its jaws).
Society itself is questionable - humans like pets that can look after themselves and come and go as they please so they don't have to waste their precious time looking after them.
Good on this bloke for continuing the initial reason to why Ferrets were introduced to NZ in the first place - only if we could find a solution to eradicate the number one killer of NZ wildlife...
