All Forums and their Posts and Threads are publicly accessible.
Only Registered Users can Post and contribute - users can delete their own activity.
For sensitive discussions I would recommend PM (Private Messaging).
If you would like a Forum for Posts for Registered Users only I can set that up quite easily.
May I suggest someone create a Ferreting Post
